Women propose new wedding trend

Until recently engagement rings were seen as exclusively a female item of jewellery but the team at Ingle & Rhode believe the time has come for both sexes to enjoy a little engagement bling. They have already sold several of the rings to women who were planning to propose to their partners and are confident the trend will continue to gain pace. Ingle & Rhode's mens rings include items fashioned from gold and platinum with many featuring ethically sourced diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and other precious stones. There's something for most budgets with women able to choose from a modest ring for their man from as little as £495 or go for something more blingy up to £11,950.

New themed enclosure in Gloucestershire to house intake of African penguins

A new penguin enclosure has been unveiled at a wildlife park in the Cotswolds. Birdland Park & Gardens will celebrate the opening of the enclosure and the intake of several new residents as part of their Penguin Week during the May half-term (from May 28 until June 5th). Alistair Keen, head keeper at the nine-acre site in Bourton-on-the-Water, said: "Our penguins are often the star attraction to Birdland, so we're delighted to have increased their number." He continues, "They're all settling really well into our new themed enclosure, which has proved very popular with visitors in the short time it has been open." Alistair and his team have already welcomed a group of African penguins to the park from Bristol Zoo, with more due to arrive later in the year. African penguins are also called the Jackass Penguins due to their braying call. They're critically endangered in the wide due to pollution and overfishing. The enclosure's redevelopment work has seen the area completely transformed with a sleepy fishing village backdrop, by design company Dead Walk. The above and below water viewing areas of Penguin Shore have also been updated with new brand-new glass. Birdland already has some celebrity penguins in its ranks, including Spike, who has his own popular social media presence after appearing in an advert for biscuits and on TV with Sir David Attenborough.

However, there is still a criteria which couples must meet in order for a wedding ceremony to be legally valid, and it's important that couples don't get caught out. One way to sidestep this added cost while still providing some free refreshment is to make your own batch of signature cocktails. Choose two mixed drinks or cocktails that you know your guests love and stock up on plenty of ingredients before the big day. For a spring or summer wedding, mixed drinks like Pimm's and lemonade or gin and elderflower tonic are great options, especially as you can provide bowls of fruit and mint leaves to use as a garnish.
