Tewkesbury Park unveil Christmas and New Year Festive Packages

Gather family and friends together for a magical Christmas and New Year spent in the rolling Gloucestershire countryside. Tewkesbury Park makes for the perfect festive retreat, offering great food, luxurious accommodation and top-to-toe pampering. The Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK are unveiled with winners in the regions

The Top 50 Boutique Hotels in the UK were unveiled this week and topping the charts were properties in Berkshire (pictured), the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall. The much-anticipated list is curated and voted by leading industry experts, hoteliers, travel writers and influencers. The South East was represented by seven hotels in the Top 50 including Cliveden House in Berkshire at number 39 while the Southwest of England dominated this year's list with its stylish staycations taking 14 of the Top 50 spots. This year's Highest New Entrant is Lympstone Manor at number five on the list. Based in Devon, this country house is set on 28 acres of grounds, including its 10-acre vineyard, elegant estuary suites and cosy shepherd huts by the water. Chef Michael Caines MBE heads up the Michelin-starred kitchen and focuses on seasonality and local produce.

Beaverbrooks jewellers in Exeter and Swindon announces Boxing Day closure

Beaverbrooks jewellers, who have a store in Exeter's Princesshay Centre in Devon and also in Swindon, Wiltshire, has announced that it will be closed this Boxing Day for the 103rd year. Managing Director of this family-owned jeweller, Anna Blackburn, said: "In Beaverbrooks' 103-year history we have never opened on Boxing Day, to give our amazing colleagues more time to spend with their families and thank them for their hard work throughout the year." She continues, "As a business run on strong family values this is something that has always been incredibly important to us, and this year our 70 stores will remain closed on the date once again, to allow our people to enjoy well-earned time with their loved ones after the busy Christmas period."

New Chairman appointed at Pride of Britain Hotels

Pride of Britain Hotels, a collection of Britain's finest places to stay, has appointed Mark Chambers as group managing director for Eden Hotel Collection, as chairman of the Board. Taking over from Sue Williams, managing director of Whatley Manor in Wiltshire, Mark Chambers will work closely with the senior leadership team of Pride of Britain Hotels and oversee the Board members, made up of leading hoteliers. The Lakes by YOO now open in Lechlade, Gloucestershire

Paxton & Whitfield launches new cheese called Cullum to celebrate 225th birthday

This year marks Paxton & Whitfield's 225th birthday and to celebrate, the UK's oldest cheesemonger with a store in Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire launches 'Cullum' – an exclusive, brand new British hard ewes' milk cheese. This cheese has been developed together with one of Paxton & Whitfield's long-standing partners, the award-winning cheesemaker Martin Gott of St James Cheese, Cumbria. James Rutter, managing director of Paxton & Whitfield, says: "We are delighted to work with Martin and his team at Holker Farm on this exciting and exclusive new British ewes' milk cheese. We named the cheese 'Cullum' after Stephen Cullum, who was the original founder of the market stall back in 1742 which started the roots of our business."
