With your wedding set to take place in spring, you have a wide variety of colour options that are ideal for differing skin tones. Unlike old traditions, your bridesmaids don't need to match. Wedding make-up is based on having dewy skin, and as long as you can all create that, the rest can be a mix of colours and styles. The idea is to flatter each of you individually and complement one another. Here are my top tips:

* Vary the colours to complement each skin tone. Rose gold and soft pink hues work well on fair skin, whereas a burned orange or peach shade looks great on olive and Indian skin. These are within the same palette but offer a variation on the intensity of the colour and work well for eyes and lips.

* Always enhance your bridesmaids' best features. Creating a winged look with eyeliner or using a different shade of lip colour to their usual choice can totally transform their look. Lashes always add definition to any make-up style and come in different types to suit all eye shapes.

* Make sure everyone feels comfortable. Ask your bridesmaids what's essential for them to feel happy and like themselves on your wedding day. For example, they might feel uncomfortable without their usual eyeliner, defined eyebrows or blusher. You want them to be comfortable so that they look relaxed and confident in the photographs. Therefore, it's important to communicate with them before the big day.

* Don't forget: You're the bride. A good make-up artist will always make sure that your bridesmaids are happy but, most importantly, that your make-up stands out the most. Most professional make-up artists offer bridesmaid trials as well as those for the bride, so don't be afraid to ask them.
