Anthropologie opens in Cheltenham today (28th May, 2019) which is it's 12th store in the UK.
Situated at 92 Promenade, it covers two floors and the design teams have worked to enhance the historic characteristics of the store's architecture, exposing and enhancing the building's Regency exterior against a modern, industrial interior.
Peter Ruis, managing director of international, comments: "We are excited to be opening on Cheltenham's iconic Promenade. Art and creativity occupy an important role at Anthropologie. It serves as a touchstone for the brand, informing everything from buying and design, through to visual display. So, coming to a town with a rich architectural and artisan history like Cheltenham feels like a natural fit."
Anthropologie is unique in employing visual display artists in each store location, tasking them with creating innovative windows and eye-catching visual displays. For the Cheltenham launch, the talented visual team are executing a dramatic sculpture that will be suspended through the centre of the store's two floors. The abstract, spherical installation is crafted from thousands of hand-printed, ombré dowels.
The brand will also be collaborating with renowned large-scale artist Marion Rhodes to create an in-store mural that will be a permanent part of the store.
