Getting married at Christmas doesn't mean that you have to plan a Christmas-themed wedding. Here, roaming band The...
With spring fast approaching, cheesemongers Paxton & Whitfield has unveiled its new Easter Cheese Cake. Selling nationwide online and with a base close to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire bordering Oxfordshire, the expert team support small, artisan cheesemakers with free UK delivery on orders over £60.
The Easter Cheese Cake is priced at £60 (including UK delivery) and is created using a range of three individual artisan British cheeses completing the seasonal tiered design.
It would make an impressive centrepiece for an Easter-themed micro wedding serving 10-12 guests and the following cheeses are on the menu – Dorset Goat, Tunworth and Sheep Rustler.
*Dorset Goat is a black-waxed goats' milk cheese is specially made for Paxtons at a creamery nestled between the Dorset Downs and the West Dorset heritage coast. The cheese has a clean mellow and slightly sweet flavour, with subtle notes of goat, and a smooth, firm texture.
*Tunworth is an award-winning, Camembert-style, cows' milk cheese made in Hampshire by Stacey Hedges. This cheese is slightly stronger than a traditional Camembert but has an earthy savouriness to it that perfectly represents the area it's made in.
*Sheep Rustler is an award-winning, washed-rind cheese made by White Lake Cheese at its dairy in Pylle, Somerset. It's made using thermised ewes' milk and once created is aged for around three months. The result is a semi-hard cheese with a medium, mellow flavour that is slightly nutty with a hint of caramel. It got its name from one of the cheesemakers, Russell, who made the first batch.
The cake comes complete with a leaflet showing you how to assemble it and why not get creative at home and decorate it with daffodils, chicks and eggs!
