With gin trending at weddings, The Cotswolds Distillery has just launched their Cotswolds No. 2 Wildflower Gin, in time for late-summer al fresco weddings (and the upcoming bank holiday weekend!) It's the latest addition to its mouth-watering Wildflower Gin collection.
This new expression is a blend of gentian, elderflower, camomile and lemon balm layered over the distillery's classic London Dry gin. Inspired by the wildflowers growing in the glorious grasslands of the Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Wildflower Gin Collection has been created by marrying premium botanicals with the gin distilling and blending skills of the Cotswolds Distillery team.
Cotswolds No. 2 Wildflower Gin brings a bright floral bitterness to the palate, whereas Cotswolds No.1 Wildflower Gin offers delicate floral aromas of summer meadows. Both expressions have a refreshingly dry finish and are delicious served as a gin spritz.
Dan Szor, Founder and CEO of Cotswolds Distillery, says: "We've been thrilled with the reception of our Cotswolds No.1 Wildflower Gin which we launched earlier this year. We are now rolling out our Cotswolds No.2 Wildflower Gin, an exciting new addition to our gin portfolio, which demonstrates great versatility, delicious served as a gin spritz or in a more complex serve at home."
Cotswolds No.2 Wildflower Gin is a full-strength gin, presented in a clear glass bottle with an eye-catching label decorated with native British wildflowers. The gin is made by distilling a London Dry base which contains juniper, coriander and angelica root in the distillery's 500L Holstein still, Lorelei, using only the 'hearts', the purest part of the spirit run. The spirit is then blended with the finest essences of gentian, elderflower, camomile and lemon balm before adding a touch of sugar and filtered water to bring the final bottling strength down to 41.7% ABV. The result is a gin, golden in colour with a mixture of subtle, bittersweet flavours layered with notes of sherbet lemons and delicate eucalyptus.
The distillery has a firm commitment to its local agricultural community and sustainability. Located in Stourton, Shipston-on-Stour, it has become a premier Cotswolds attraction, offering tours and tastings daily, ideal for those enjoying a honeymoon in the area.
The distillery and stores in Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water are definitely worth a visit and receive nearly 100,000 visitors a year.
