Kiera and Phil first met when she moved in next door to his friend Lucy. He made sure that Lucy threw a party and invited her. “I soon warmed to Phil's charm and kind heart,” Kiera tells us.
Three years later, the couple were engaged on Christmas Eve. “Phil hates walks but agreed to go on one first thing that morning,” Kiera explains. We visited the common near our house and when we got to a beautiful spot overlooking the town that we both grew up in, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, it was a huge surprise!”
Here, Kiera tells us about their festival-themed day…
We wrapped strings of pom poms around the balcony of the shepherd's hut where we cut our wedding cake.
We had sunflowers, dahlias, cosmos, salvia, verbena, lavender, roses and a few other flower varieties.
We called in every favour that we could and got a team of ten close friends to help decorate the grounds. In the end it took us two days to complete.
We used ribbon from Bertie's Bows to transform the archway that we had our ceremony under.
Our chief bridesmaid created our order of the day cards along with the invitations, place cards, and signage – she did an amazing job!
We hired 20ft festival flags to lead guests from the car park to the entrance of the field.
Phil's mum and stepdad grew and arranged all of our flowers (apart from the dahlias which came from my mum and stepdad's garden).
Phil wore a dusky pink pair of chinos with a white shirt while the groomsmen wore blue chinos and a white shirt.
We created a wall of ribbon strung from the archway where guests entered and first saw the venue.
My dress was an elegant strapless design that I teamed with an arrangement of wild flowers. I also wore fresh flowers in my hair.
We hung brightly coloured lanterns around the yurt.
Our table plan was made from cork boards with the stationery designed by our arty chief bridesmaid pinned onto it.
Our wedding cake was a beautiful three-tiered white chocolate and champagne naked cake baked as a wedding gift by our very dear friends Maggie and Gemma.
We had wine bottles sprayed gold that we recycled from a friend's wedding the year before and displayed flowers in them.
