Maria and Mike's big day followed a vintage 1920s theme with white, gold and silver touches

Maria Kenny, 28, married Mike Furness, 31, at Ellenborough Park on 22nd July, 2017.

We loved our venue as soon as we visited it. The ceremony room is stunning, there's a courtyard for reception drinks and De La Bere Court at Ellenborough Park is a great space with seating for up to 120 guests – it even has its own bar and dancefloor and the party can continue until 1am!

Our table plan, cake, sweet table and decorations followed a 1920s theme.

Our centrepieces were simple clusters of roses in round fish bowls that matched those in my bouquet. We sprinkled gems on each table to add a touch of sparkle along with tea lights decorated with lace.

We had a canopy of lights suspended from the ceiling that looked stunning! It added such a warm glow to the room.

My favourite flowers are roses so I had white and blush ones in my bouquet.

My Dad's reaction to me in my dress was so special. I didn't expect him to react as emotionally as he did.

Our table names were based on places around the world that were significant to us as a couple. Putney was where we rented our first flat together, Barnt Green was where I grew up, Yateley was where Mike grew up and Ocean was the name of the bar that we met in.

Mike wanted a blue suit and had it made especially – he teamed it with a white tie. The groomsmen wore similar blue suits but in a slightly darker shade with bright blue ties. They all had grey tweed waistcoats to fit in with the country venue.

My mother-in-law is an amazing cook so she made our incredible 1920s –themed cake. It was so tasty with layers of chocolate cake, carrot cake and vanilla.

We had an Irish ceilidh band play during the reception drinks as a nod to where my Dad is from and our guests loved them! During the evening we had a great band play that catered for every generation. Everyone was up dancing all night and my friend has since booked this band for her wedding. The guests left standing at the very end of the night were treated to an hour of a DJ playing old school garage music, which is Mike's favourite.

I wanted a simple dress at the front so opted for a lace fishtail style with a dramatic back and train. I wore a delicate belt to add a touch of sparkle and teamed it with a beautiful necklace that Mike gave to me on my 21st birthday.

People advised me that the day goes by very quickly and it really does. The hours feel like minutes. Make sure you both steal a few minutes away together to just take it all in.

Our bridesmaids got to choose their dresses from a selection of styles that I picked out. It ended up that the four of them wore two different gowns. I was just happy that they felt comfortable and relaxed in them.
