Charlotte and Rhys met at his work Christmas drinks where they were introduced through mutual friends. They became engaged in a surprise proposal during a romantic trip to Venice. "When Rhys got down on one knee to propose, it was such a surprise that I thought he was joking and walked away at first!" Charlotte tells us.
The couple chose Lapstone Barn as their venue because of its mix of rustic and modern décor. "It's such a beautiful venue," Charlotte tells us, "we both fell in love with it." They chose a mix of grey, blue and white accessories to complement the barn and personalised their day with a nod to their pets. "We have a cavapoo and a golden retriever so these were the inspiration behind our table plan," Charlotte explains. "We showcased each table name with a black and white photograph of that breed of dog attached to a glass bottle presented on a circular mirrored plate and each place name was secured to a wine glass using a small wooden peg."
The couple had rhubarb-flavoured vodka shots as their favours and a three-tier cake decorated with handmade flowers. "Our chosen flavours were chocolate, vanilla and lemon," Charlotte tells us. They opted for classic white flowers with lots of greenery. "We felt that this really suited our colour theme and the feel of the barn," Charlotte explains. "We displayed gypsophila on each chair in the ceremony room which looked simple yet elegant. "The couple served their guests pulled pork, potatoes and vegetables as the main dish, and lemon cheesecake for the dessert. "During the evening reception we provided pizza which our guests loved," Charlotte says.
"I loved my fitted dress that featured a dramatictrain," Charlotte tells us. "It was very elegant. Our bridesmaids looked beautiful in their silvergrey maxi dresses and Rhys looked so handsomein his blue suit teamed with a grey waistcoat. Hisgroomsmen coordinated with him wearing bluethree-piece suits."
"We hired a singer who pretended to be a waiterduring the afternoon and then surprised our guestsby dropping a tray of spoons to create a loud noisebefore bursting into song," Charlotte tells us. "Hesang many different tracks that our guests lovedand then a DJ took over for the evening reception."
