My much-loved parents are celebrating 50 years of genuinely happy marriage this June which, in this day and age, is a remarkable achievement. Not only have they provided a happy home life for my brother and me to grow up in – and there’s not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for the carefree childhood that we had – they still provide a loving family unit for us now that we’re adults. When I watch how they love, respect and support one another, take care of each other and talk and laugh a lot, I realise that these are the key ingredients to a long and successful marriage. As a family, we’ll be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary this June and I can’t wait.

Fireflower Tipis
These magical tipis offer a rustic charm and blank canvas for yearround weddings. Summer celebrations can make the most of the great outdoors with garden games, al fresco drinks, hay bales and firepits. During the colder months, the interior of the tipis looks cosy dressed with fairylights, sheepskin rugs and blankets.
Menu choices to complement a tipi wedding can be anything from fine dining to a grazing table set-up. Outdoor barbecues, wood-fired pizza ovens and street food vans are other great alternatives, as are mobile horsebox bars. On a warm evening, guests can gather around the firepit toasting marshmallows while enjoying a firework display.
A selection of tipis and sizes are available for hire with two giant hat tipis recently added to the offering. A single structure seats up to 60 guests and multiple tipis can be linked together to create more space. There’s the option of adding a snug, catering tent and a separate smaller tipi as a children’s play area. The experienced team also has a large range of furniture for hire including bars, atmospheric lighting and other fun ideas.

| |
De Vere Cotswold Water Park, part of the De Vere collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels and event destinations, has unveiled a £700,000 refurbishment to its Kingfisher and Drake event suites. Both have been refreshed to include modern amenities and the latest technologies to bring them in line with the company's innovative Smart Space meetings concept. The new design in both suites includes exposed Cotswold stone walls and feature panelling to complement the surrounding natural landscape, bringing it in line with De Vere's distinctly British aesthetic.
