Those of you planning a wedding this summer don’t have to wait much longer. In my opinion, this is the best time of year to be getting married, especially in Wiltshire or Gloucestershire with all that these picturesque regions have to offer. From a festival-style real wedding (page 41) to a cool selection of tipis and yurts available to hire (page 23), weddings here can be as informal (or traditional) as you want.

Manor by the lake
This luxurious wedding venue is set in seven acres of award-winning gardens in the heart of Cheltenham. It combines an elegant, classical look with stylish modern comforts. The manicured grounds are picture-perfect, ideal for those memorable photographs, and the venue now offers couples the chance to have outdoor ceremonies in The Italian Gardens under the Italian Pavilion, a newly licensed area situated next to the manor, seating up to 150 guests.
Other outside options are the Lakeside Pavilion, using the pretty lake as a backdrop, and The Manor Arches, which is the dramatic entrance to the house.
There’s also a choice of beautifully presented function rooms at the venue that offer civil ceremonies, including The Marguerite, which can be used in conjunction with The Maximilian. This room holds up to 80 guests, and there’s also The Lyderick, which holds up to 60 loved ones.
The West-Wing Ballroom accommodates up to 200 guests for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception.
