October/November 2018

I must admit that I’m not a fan of winter. I was born to live in a hot climate! But there is something about this time of year that I find quite comforting, and it’s the perfect time to familiarise yourself with the Danish concept of hygge.
Not only do I love lighting scented candles in my home and switching on the fairylights as soon as it gets dark, but I really like this look and feel for a seasonal wedding. Autumnal nuptials are blessed with darker evenings that feel so romantic dotted with festoon lighting, and rustic barns decorated in soft subtle shades are the venues of choice at this time of year, providing the perfect space for those candles. Winter weddings get the benefit of guests huddled together, toasting marshmallows and spelling out your newly married initials with mini sparklers – not to mention wrapping up against the cold in the cutest faux fur stoles and accessories. So it’s these small seasonal wonders that I will be holding on to this year in order to get me through the colder months, and it’s this theme that has inspired my moodboard of shopping buys this issue. Oh, and for that little bit of summer sun, I will just have to turn to our honeymoon section!

Until next issue...

Best Western - The Gables Hotel

This popular hotel is set in the rural village of Falfield in the stunning Cotswold countryside, just a 20-minute drive to Bristol for newlyweds needing access to an airport for their honeymoon. As expected from the Best Western brand, it offers plenty of luxury amenities, including complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, 24-hour service and free parking. It’s also dog-friendly, so they can stay for an extra £10 per night. The Berkeley Brasserie offers modern British dishes and pizzas made from local, seasonal ingredients.

Ceremonies take place in a choice of three elegant rooms to suit small, intimate gatherings and larger parties alike. A showstopping red-carpet welcome can be arranged, along with elegant silk table arrangements and exclusive use of the pretty gardens for big-day photographs. The wedding breakfast can take place in The Bristol Suite for up to 150 guests, in The Brackenbury Suite for up to 80 loved ones and in The Falfield Suite for smaller gatherings of up to 40 people. The Brasserie is another option, hosting 42 guests.

The hotel offers a full afternoon tea as an alternative for a relaxed, quintessentially English wedding. Both The Bristol Suite and The Brackenbury Suite are available for the evening reception.
